María Martínez del Mármol, the designer behind Mimage

Hardworking, fun-loving, well-traveled, and a friend to her friends. That's María Martínez del Mármol, the designer who brings Mimage's dresses, suits, and accessories to life for the perfect guest . If there's one thing she knows, it's how to attend a wedding, having attended 13 celebrations for friends and family this year alone.

Creation of the Mimage store

Despite being from Granada, she's spent the last few years in Alicante, a city she moved to for work and wanted to stay for a while. It coincided with her return from Australia, a moment when she decided to leave everything behind and pursue her dream: providing sustainable guest service for special events .

She studied Economics, a Master's in Marketing, and several fashion courses, training that allowed her to dabble in the world of entrepreneurship, but the beginnings weren't easy. After working in communications agencies, hotels, and a footwear company, she faced the challenge of opening a physical store, and at first, she had to learn how to do everything. "I look back and don't know how I managed to do it. Now I have a lot of help and I've learned a lot from my mistakes."

Challenges in your career

In 2020, the COVID-19 health crisis erupted, and with it, María decided to reinvent herself by selling cloth masks . At the time, she only had a dress catalog to show her customers, and she thought it was the right time to launch her online website.

From that moment on, the Mimage brand began to gain recognition outside of Alicante, and the first orders from the online store arrived. That's when she had to learn how to manage the website, shipping, and customer service .

All of this has been a challenge in her career, as has being interviewed on the radio or doing live Instagram broadcasts, something essential in these times, but which "involves a lot of nerves."

Did you know that…?

  • Mimage was founded in 2019.
  • Has sold all over the world: Italy, Holland, Chile, USA, Costa Rica, Miami, Peru, Greece, France, etc.
  • It has more than 350 reviews (with a score of 5/5) on Google.
  • She has dressed: Anne Igartiburu , Samantha Vallejo-Nágera (better known as Samy), Paz Padilla and Leticia Iglesias .
  • +1000 perfect guests since opening.
  • 3 Mimage collections (preparing the fourth!).

Trends that María Martínez del Mármol loves

The perfect look for a winter wedding, according to María, would be pants and a kimono . Yes, a garment that reminds us of traditional Japanese clothing and is now being combined with new colors, prints, and textures to add a touch of sophistication to our events.

And in summer, the star piece I would choose would be a tunic dress or a kaftan , a comfortable, elegant garment that looks perfect on any body type.

As for accessories, she's clear: "Some ornate maxi raffia or stone earrings and a fringed, chiffon, or velvet cape, because they add that extra touch of originality. I've always loved traditional capes, stoles, and shawls. Now that they've made a comeback, I love them because they add movement, and when you take them off, you have a whole new look ."

María always keeps an eye on the looks of the best-dressed guests on the national and international scene, and among her latest additions, she highlights a Núria Roca outfit she wore to an event. "I loved her green Perkins collar dress with a bow and a slit at the waist. It was very elegant, like a fusion of the Marit and Diana dresses by Mimage ."
